ORANGES - REFLECTING Layering thin color washes over smooth paper, luminosity was achieved. Glazing to me, others call it layering. Pure color helps to achieve the glow. I eliminated the surface line to suggest a mystery in the reflection. I pushed a little green into the shadows (using plenty of water to maintain control) to build shadows of gentle contract. I ran the reflection off the paper to help draw the eye upward, making sure the reflection was darker with slightly less detail. I know you are not suppose to kiss your subjects, but it was fun to loose some lines and accentuate others to relieve the kissing problem. I like the outcome. May try this in Acrylic next, with a different pose. These oranges suggest skin and mimic the luminosity it has. Try putting strong light behind the web of your hand... it is strikingly beautiful. So the question, "What color is skin?"
