CIVIL WAR RE-ENACTMENT SKETCH - pastel. My niece writes for a local paper. She took this photo. I was trying to find the rest of the story and when I clicked on the links, only the photo and its caption came up. After exhausting my efforts to find the rest of the story, I decided to make up my own story. I did this color sketch of the imagined moment from her photo. I have always been facsinated with the Civil War. A tragic time, but a decisive time in our history. I had a set of CW soldiers and props that I received one Christmas. It kept me entertained for days. I used to draw on cardboard boxes and make more props for my little set of soldiers. The drawing was with crayons and whatever paints I could scavenge from Dad's workshop. Many times I had the basement to myself with just my little soldiers, the props, and whatever sounds I could make up myself.

Jer,

Unfortunately, there was no story to go with the photo. Just a standalone. The story that I wrote about it was published the issue before.. here's the link for you.
