TULIPS - a most prized flower when I was a child. I started selling seeds at age eight. I was terrified, especially from the rejection of those who hated to garden. I used to go door to door trying to reach my goal of a hundred packs of seeds so that I could buy camping gear to go on an outing with the Cub Scouts. I learned a lot from my customers. I learned that people can be exceptionally kind and helpful not just hostile and rejecting. I learned to love plants at age eight. I took some of my money and bought my own seeds. I still remember the pride I experienced from growing my own plants. I also learned how hard it can be if you do not fully understand what the plant needs. These tulips remind me of the joy I saw in others. I also learned that tulips are started as bulbs and I had to buy them from another source. I got some requests for tulips in those early days. What joy I discovered, when I discovered a source for tulips...my neighbors flowers produced them every years. You plant these and harvest them every year,(especially if its it freezes.)
