BEAR - here is my value sketch for BEAR. I recently located an old friend on the internet. He and I used to spend time as computer hobbyists talking about the next great technology breakthrough. We had a mutual interest in BBS (bulletin board systems) before the internet developed into its own. He recently took a trip to India and shot tigers and elephants in the wild. One tiger shot gave me the idea to paint this BEAR. I gathered some reference photos and a little imagination and started in on this painting. My wife and I saw a bear in the wild when we went to Alaska a few years ago. It moved too quickly to get a photo, but I allowed my mind to paint its presence here once again. I have vivid memories of bears from my childhood visits to the Chicago zoos. They never portrayed the energy I am after here, because the zoo bears look so captivated. I am hoping to give this bear a uncaptured and free appearance. Anyway....I am off, lets see what happens here from this value sketch. I played with three values and then stretched it a little to five.
